Rising to Energy Star
The Process, Requirements, and Benefits of a Coveted Label
BOMA Westchester is pleased to present a detailed program exploring the process, challenges, and benefits of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s coveted Energy Star Label. We will outline the Energy Star Benchmarking process, requirements, and costs to provide successful and approachable strategies. Additionally, we will explore how Benchmarking information is used to benefit, improve, and provide unique market opportunities within a challenging economy. Finally, through examples of new municipal legislation, as seen in New York City, requiring benchmarking, we will look at how it is reshaping the landscape, the response, and potential effects/benefits for building owners and managers.
Jason Black is Director of Architectural Services for Reckson a division of SL Green's Class A Suburban Office Portfolio, and is responsible for its market leading sustainable program, including the recent receipt of six Energy Star Labels.
Patricia Lee is a Sr. Project Manager at CodeGreen, a sustainable building consulting firm that has managed Energy Star benchmarks for over 50 million square feet of commercial building space across the U.S. and has certified over 50% of the LEED-EB commercial office buildings in New York City.
